The construction of a new casino resort in Subic Bay, costing 16.6 billion pesos, began with a groundbreaking ceremony on March 14th, as reported by multiple Philippine media outlets.

The Subic Sun Conference Resort and Casino will be located in the Subic Economic Zone and Freeport Zone, commonly referred to as the Subic Bay Freeport. The first phase of the property is slated to open by the end of 2025. Situated in the central part of Luzon Island, it is approximately 170 kilometers (106 miles) northwest of the capital Manila.

Eduardo Jose Aliño, Chairman and Administrator of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, stated that the project will feature hotel accommodations under the brands of the Accor Group's ibis Styles and Mercure. According to Accounts, the ibis Styles Subic Bay Hotel will offer 175 rooms, including a swimming pool, meeting spaces, and a gym.

In a report, Pablo Edgardo Puyat, Chairman and CEO of the Sun Conference Resort and Casino company, mentioned, "The ibis Styles Subic Bay Hotel is set to open in 2026, becoming the first international brand hotel in Subic." It was also revealed by a source that the Mercure Subic Hotel will offer 250 rooms and is expected to open in 2026. However, the report did not mention the opening date of the casino, nor the number of gaming tables and electronic games.
