Philippine mobile wallet GCash has announced its global launch, covering 16 countries and regions, providing convenient financial services to Filipino residents abroad.
In a press conference, GCash announced that Filipinos can now download and use the GCash app in 16 countries, whether using a Philippine SIM card or a local mobile number.
The service, which is supported by Ayala Group and Alibaba, provides Filipino residents abroad with safe, reliable, and efficient fintech solutions, allowing them to send money to family members, pay bills, purchase mobile phone loads, and more anytime and anywhere.
GCash General Manager Paul Albano said GCash’s global expansion signals the company’s commitment to serving the financial needs of Filipino residents abroad and partnering with licensed recruitment agency Ikon Solutions Asia Inc. to ensure Filipino overseas workers have access to much-needed digital financial services.
GCash said that with its Global Pay, it is now a viable channel for payments to more than 3 million merchants that support Alipay+ in 17 countries and regions around the world, including Japan, South Korea and Singapore in Asia Pacific; Qatar and the United Arab Emirates in the Middle East , Italy, Switzerland and the UK in Europe, as well as the US – all benefit from low foreign exchange rates and zero service fees.
In addition, GCash has also cooperated with international payment giants such as Visa to provide users with cashless payment methods and provide seamless financial services to Filipinos around the world.
Albano said that this global expansion is the first step for GCash to provide financial services and will continue to expand its international influence in the future.
